Creating My Own Website
Well, here we are!
If you know me, you’ll know that having my very own website has been a dream of mine since I started Beaded Legacy back in 2019 and I’m so excited that it has finally become a reality!
If I’m honest with myself, the reason why I put it off for so long was because I kept getting overwhelmed every time I thought about making it. I knew it would take a lot of work, and I wasn’t sure if I was capable. This seems to be a trend in my life - thinking I’m not good enough to do something but then doing it eventually and surprising myself.
I considered paying someone else to make it for me, but I knew it would be expensive and I couldn’t afford what most web designers were asking. I tried posting online to see if I could find any Indigenous web designers who may want to work with me but had no luck. At the end of the day, I think a part of me knew that it would be difficult to hand over the reigns to a project like this anyways, so it’s probably for the best that I did it on my own so that I could have total creative control.
Everything about Beaded Legacy is intentional, and I wanted the website to be created in an intentional way too - by someone who understands the importance of telling my story and sharing my work in a good way. Who better to do that than me?
This site was built using Squarespace and it was actually not as hard as I expected it to be. That being said, since I am still learning about website building, please bear with me as there may be errors/issues and constant updating that needs to be done. Beaded Legacy is a one-woman show and I am always doing the best I can.
Mahsi cho for being here - I hope to see you again soon!!
